SOME REVIEWS of Infinite Love!!
The sections of “Infinite Love,” a continuous 40-minute composition, tend to start with plucked arpeggios and expand, sometimes taking on a melody, sometimes rippling in ever-wider arcs, sometimes melting into feedback and echo. The music is always heading somewhere promising -Jon Pareles, New York Times
It’s extremely technical stuff, marvelously fast, and so rhythmically precise that it generates momentum with ease, and many of the songs are notably driving for music without any traditional percussion on hand. But Wong’s compositions are also melodious, groovy, and relatively concise, as liable to inhabit your hips and heart as they are to tickle your brain. When he aims high, soaring, strawberry-hued leads rear up from the unraveling tangles of arpeggios and things get airborne quickly. In his more wistful moments, Wong writes and plays with a tenderness that’s featherlight, each track exuding warmth in generous measure.
-Evan Burrows, Tiny Mix Tapes
Infinite Love’s strength is its lack of presumptuousness. It doesn’t try to blow you away with technical skill; instead, Wong’s abilities become clear in a more subtle way, as he consistently coaxes new and fresh sounds from his guitar throughout the albums’ running times. Infinite Love is the kind of record that people will love in an appreciative, grinning sort of way, sidling up to it in the same sense that you might greet that person at a party who offers no existential conversation, but cheers you up on a Friday night. Those things are important to have around, too.
-Corey Beasley, Pop Matters
"Infinite Love is one of those rare records that could only have been made using modern technology, but that already sounds timeless...Wong's trance-inducing cyclical guitar runs even manage to recall one of his former band's biggest influences, the mighty Boredoms, in their early Noughties psychedelic shamen phase.High praise indeed, but a fair comparison; there aren't many bands – and even fewer solo artists – who can make music this rapturous, or use repetition to such blissfully hypnotic effect." -Michael Dix, The Quietus
The genius lurking beneath Infinite Love, however, is in the presentation. A film is included, and much like a Choose Your Own Adventure novella, listeners are able to pair sight and sound to create their own unique journey. Wong is putting his art school background to excellent use, challenging the mind through the power of positivity rather than destroying it through negativity. Infinite Love is pliable—listeners are able to construct their own vision through Wong’s epic scope. Technological interactivity has never been this pleasurable (get your mind out of the gutter). -Justin Spicer, 90.3FM KEXP Seattle

Infinite Love coming out on Thrill Jockey!
I didn't know when to break the news but I'm going to release Infinite Love through Thrill Jockey Records! I'm so excited to work with them, i jumped on my bed a few times when i got the news. Tortoise, Aki tsuyuko, Boredoms, Nobukazu Takemura, and so many musicians that i used to listen to and getting inspired from, its such an honor.
The album itself is going to be a 2 disc album with a DVD. The album gets two versions, the two versions both start the same, but around the 20 minute mark the two shifts directions and it changes the musical journey. They are kind of like a twin brother and sister. At the end of the piece they come back together.
The DVD is a video my friend Andrew Shenker and I worked on. It is a visual piece that aides the whole album. We are pretty happy with it and it should be good watching it a little buzzed.
The art for the album was done by my friend Evan Lalonde, He took photos and video stills from the piece used on the dvd and using an overhead projector layering different images together to compose a drawing we see above. I'm really happy how it looks!
Infinite Love will be out in mid October
Infinite Loveは10月の中旬にリリースされます!

PEAKING LIGHTS
this is an awesome video of aaron coyes and indra dunis showing their circut bended sound machines! aaron and i went to the same film school in california and he was a huge, huge influence on me. before i left for baltimore he burned me a mountain of cd-rs that included awesome bands like silver apples, la dusseldorf, can, faust, goblin and a bunch of great psychedelic albums that shaped me musically.
i remember him showing me some of his 16 band equalizers turned into tone generators and it blew my mind. an incredibly kind and positive man he is. :)

Titus Andronicus: The Monitor
i happened to paroozle around pitchfork and i happened to find the documentary for titus' 2nd album The Monitor. i was one of their guest guitarist for their song the battle of hampton roads. they came to my house with their sound engineer kevin mcmahon. nolen from double dagger came and also andy and jenn from wye oak, it was so much fun. we had a pizza party and i was getting pretty drunk recording those tracks for them since they bought a case of a natty boh for the recording session.
good times, good times.
good times, good times.

Rapdragons at mobtown studios
Rapdragons asked me a few days ago if i wanted to play a song with them last night at Mobtown studios. It was super fun! They sampled Ponytail's 'Late for School' from Ice Cream Spiritual and called it 'Early for Work' :D
The space itself was really cute, a small space with a giraffe patterned rug for the bands to play on.
Mobtown is run by Matt and Emily Leffler Schulman they are married and they are gonna go on a vacation to Costa Rica soon, they are psyched about that!
Sam from Future Isalands was there too and he rapped with them which was really crazy to see, that guy is verbally talented, seriously. my mouth is like a crippled scarecrow, I can't rap for crap!
to listen to the recordings go here
my favorite song they did that night was bigwams, they have such fresh yet simple beats with old school rapping like de la soul, it was awesome!

Square defining a Circle, Infinite Love
i just finished recording and i'm excited yet i don't know what to do as of yet. i'm definitely thinking about asking labels to see if they are interested yet this project has gotten a lot more involved than i thought it was going to be. it started out as a 20 minute piece now its about 40 and when i thought i was done, i came up with a new idea where the piece has two versions each version beginning the same and in the middle splitting off in a different direction then coming back at the end.
my friend Andy Shenker and i have been working on the video too so its getting ambitious! we want the images to go together with both version of the record. hoping that this experiment's different sounds and songs can re-contextualize the imagery of the video. i'm really curious on how its going to change.
this is the rough idea for the cover
